CARDIO BARRE includes
four workouts on one DVD. Workouts include:
- Intro: 20 minutes of intense moves at 144 bpm, works the entire body and also includes a burst of cardio
- Beginner: Another full body workout, this 37 minute routine is a condensed version of moves from the intermediate and advanced levels have to offer; still intense, but perfect for those time-crunched days. 150 bpm
- Intermediate: Kicking it up a notch, this 40 minute routine at 160 bpm will work every muscle group to complete fatigue
- Advanced: 52 minutes and 172 bpm, this is the most difficult routine but still features the signature Cardio Barre non-impact, elegant strength and cardio sets.
Note from Jen: I'm totally hooked on these Cardio Barre workouts! High reps, low to no weight, pulses, elegant moves ... by the time I'm done, I'm totally fried! Cardio Barre is a perfect compliment to my muscle definition rotations, when I use workouts such as Tracy Effinger's
Squeeze series, Bernadette Giorgi's
Attitude Tu, or Carrie Rezabek's
Pure Barre. Richard Giorla is a fantastic instructor, clearly outlining each move so even us non-dancers feel empowered and strong. The entire
Cardio Barre crew has perfect form and execution, which gives me a new level of determination when I perform these workouts. I'm not a dancer by any means, yet I find that these moves aren't so ballet focused that I'm unable to perform them; instead, they're hard-core, tough fitness moves with added elegance and grace, without sacrificing effectiveness. Actually,
tough doesn't adequately describe these workouts--and I love it! I particularly love the fact that I don't need my aerobic shoes--barefoot routines make me feel more free and expressive.
A barre isn't necessary--I use a chair instead. These workouts include:
warm-up, plie, ballet, waist, cardio, barre thighs, upper body, abs, lower back, lower body, and
cool down. The shorter workouts are perfect for add-ons or late afternoon pick-me-up workouts, whereas I find myself doing the longer, advanced routine as a jolt first thing in the morning. What an awesome way to start the day!
From Cardio Barre: Each workout progresses to a more difficult level by increasing the tempo of the music, the length of the workout, the amount of repititions in each exercise, and the difficulty of the exercise.
The exercises in Cardio Barre are high-energy, but with no impact to lengthen and strengthen your muscles as you burn fat. Working at the barre (or chair) gives you a sense of center and balance which allows the isolation of individual muscle groups.
These unique core-based exercises combine barre work and light weights with continual fat-burning motion. Central to the workout are resistance and toning exercises for the butt, things, torso and arms to sculpt muscles and elongate the body.
